AWARD FOR THE RURAL WATER SUPPLY PROGRAM IN ALBANIA

GFA Consulting Group, together with Kocks Consult and Valu Add Management Services has been awarded a consulting service contract in Albania for the “Rural Water Supply Programme IV-Accompanying Measures”. The program is funded via grant funds from a German bilateral cooperation - the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, through Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (KfW). The program is implemented by the Albanian Development Fund.

The purpose of the RWSP IV is to provide an environmentally sound and hygienically safe water supply and wastewater disposal system. The performance capacity shall satisfy the peak demands resulting from tourism during the summer months, while covering costs within the need to satisfy for socially acceptable tariffs in parts of the Municipality of Himara and the town, Orikum, (Municipality of VIora). The accompanying service measures will be focused on improving the water utility performance and operations via the following main tasks:

• Development and implementation of a tariff strategy
• Improvement of the economic performance
• Elaboration of O&M procedures
• Technical assistance
• Strengthening staff capacity
• Elaboration of a sludge disposal conceptTo plan and implement an awareness campaign

The contract was signed on 1 July 2021, and our consulting team has begun work on the inception phase. All of our services will be performed in close coordination and cooperation with the ADF, KfW, UK Himara and UK Vlora.
