On April 14, 2022, the German Ambassador to Albania, HE Peter Zingraf visited the Prespa National Park. The visit took place as part of a press trip to German Development cooperation projects in Albania. One of these is the KfW-financed project "Transboundary Biosphere Reserve Prespa (PRESPA)". Discussions took place between the RAPA director, the Mayor of Pusteci, PONT and PRESPA Project representatives, HE the Ambassador, Dr. Judith Hoffmann (Head of Development Cooperation at the embassy), Ms. Brit Horschke (KfW Country Director), and 35 journalists. This gathering provided hands-on information on the achievements of two initiatives of the Albanian-German cooperation currently active in Prespa National Park: The PRESPA project and the Prespa Ohrid Nature Trust (PONT). The PRESPA Project supports biodiversity conservation and income generation for residents of Prespa National Park through investments, the PONT supports the Prespa National Park through the financing of staffing and operational costs.

The trip began at the Prespa National Park Information Centre at the Zvezda pass. The group received insight into the Prespa National Park and the investments enabled by the German-Albanian initiatives.

The trip continued with a visit to the Pustec municipality center and a boat trip to the island of Mali Grad, one of the main tourist destinations of the Prespa National Park, and an area of stunning natural beauty. The PRESPA project supported the installation of boat landing docks, the restoration of the roof of the 14th century church, Shen Maresa, and a visitor platform on the island. Further support to promote tourism includes the annual organization of an internationally renowned music festival at this amazing location.
