GFA FRAMEWORK CONTRACTS UNIT IS AWARDED A KFW FRAMEWORK AGREEMENT

Posted on 24 Jan, 2022 by Christian Caspar, Framework Contracts Unit Manager

GFA Consulting Group GmbH leads a consortium comprising the partners Conflict Management Consulting CMC (Belgium), MAZURIS SASU (France), and Multiconsult Norge A/S that has been awarded with the “KfW 2020/0043: Framework Agreement (FWA) for Consulting Services in Fragile Contexts” (2021-2025).

German Development Cooperation projects in conflict-affected countries have the cross-cutting objective of serving to prevent crises and building peace. The importance of preventive action and the need to consistently orientate development cooperation toward peacebuilding has become a political priority for the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), in lieu of achieving the Agenda 2030 development goals. The FWA is a new instrument of KfW Development Bank for the procurement of project preparatory studies and assessments in those countries characterized by crisis and fragility that exhibit fast changing framework conditions.

Services procured under the FWA include pre-feasibility studies, environmental and social analysis, institutional analyses of designated project executing agencies, target groups and project-affected people as well as peace and conflict assessments. The sectored scope includes water supply and sanitation, electricity supply, transport infrastructure, health and education services and peacebuilding.

In order to provide these services, the GFA led consortium relies on highly specialized experts along with a broad network of global, regional and national partners who combine to ensure local and logistical support during the implementation of the specific assignments.
