OPENING OF NEWLY BUILD TVET SCHOOLS AND START OF CLASSES OF KFW RURAL EDUCATION PROJECT IN GUATEMALA

Posted on 26 Feb, 2025 by Christian Prange

GFA was responsible for the planning, design, procurement of infrastructure and equipment, and supervision of infrastructure works, including the development of maintenance plans. The schools are outstanding centres of excellence with state-of-the-art equipment. They have solar panels and their own water treatment systems for sustainable and self-sufficient operation.

In addition to building and equipping the schools, GFA developed and implemented the associated train-the-trainer (ToT) activities, competency-based training programmes, curricula and teaching manuals. The main technical areas are car mechanics, engineering, catering, cooking, IT, construction and dairy products. In addition, GFA has rehabilitated eight existing TVET schools, upgrading their equipment and installing insulated roofs to create a comfortable learning environment.

Students benefit from a tailor-made scholarship programme. Established partnerships with the private sector ensure practical internships and links with the local economy.
The Ministry of Education (MINEDUC) and the local communities are very proud of these unique schools, which will greatly improve education and employability in rural areas and have a lasting impact on regional development, including the promotion of regional exchanges. Initial study visits to the schools by a delegation from Honduras have already taken place.
