GFA LAUNCHES GIZ PROJECT TO IMPROVE LOW-CARBON URBAN INFRASTRUCTURE IN UKRAINE
GFA Consulting Group has launched a major new project under the Eastern Partnership and Central Asia Program (FELICITY II). The 18-month initiative, commissioned by the GIZ, aims to improve low-carbon, climate-resilient urban infrastructure in Ukraine's water and wastewater sectors.
In collaboration with key stakeholders, including municipal and state-owned water and wastewater utilities, the project will focus on preparing bankable infrastructure projects for future financing, in particular from the European Investment Bank (EIB).
Given Ukraine's urgent need for investment in water and wastewater services, this project will support the country's efforts to improve water quality, reduce pollution and increase operational efficiency. It will also help Ukraine to meet EU standards in the water sector as it approaches potential EU membership.
Through FELICITY II, GFA will play a crucial role in supporting project promoters and strengthening their capacity to develop sustainable, bankable proposals that have significant greenhouse gas mitigation potential, enhance climate resilience and secure access to international climate finance. This initiative underscores the importance of international cooperation in advancing sustainable development and securing critical funding for Ukraine's urban infrastructure improvements.
