The GIZ financed project EDMITA (Sustainable Energy in the Provinces of Midelt and Tata) supports four municipalities in remote regions of Morocco in introducing an energy management system. One priority here is to improve the energy efficiency of street lighting. In some cases, street lighting accounts for 30% of the municipality's total household. Last year, a comprehensive analysis was carried out of all street lights, which are now gradually being replaced according to energy efficiency criteria. In this way, emissions are saved and the municipality can spend the budget freed up in this way on social activities.
