Sustainable agriculture and rural development (PAD-II)

Tunisia
GIZ, 2017 - 2019
Contract value: 98,212 EUR

The project objective was to increase the attractiveness of the agricultural sector and to improve employment prospects for young people as service providers of innovative, necessary and affordable ICT- based services in rural areas. GFA provided technical support for the implementation of the component „Agripreneurs 2.0“, in particular the promotion and creation of innovative ICT start-ups in the agriculture and food sector. Young people were mobilized by means of an image and awareness campaign. A series of workshops linked the development and implementation of ICT start-up ideas with specific, continuous coaching. The best start-up ideas entered a competition and funding was provided for their implementation.

In the course of this project, GFA researched and compiled ICT4Ag best practices for the campaign for 10,000 young people. GFA also developed didactic ICT4Ag teaching material for the Tunisian context and provided technical support in integrating ICT4Ag into ideation workshops with the target audience. Our team trained and continuously supported 50 coaches on ICT4Ag and contributed the ICT part of the guidebook "Agripreneur 2.0" for the Tunisian context.
