In close cooperation with KfW’s financial sector teams and integrated into KfW’s Competence Center for the Financial Sector, GFA conducts country specific studies on financial sector development in Egypt, Morocco and Tunisia with focus on SME Financing. The studies focus on the analysis of country specific framework conditions for SME financing and the development of tailor-made innovative approaches to complement existing DFI concepts. It provides an inventory of shortcomings that are relevant for SMEs and hamper access to finance on the demand and supply side and gives recommendations of special relevance being viable in the county specific contexts. GFA carries out analyses of the SME finance ecosystems, including overviews on existing and planned bilateral and regional financial, capital market and venture capital approaches and develops concrete concepts, relevant and realizable in the country specific contexts.
