International urban cooperation
The overall objective of the global program International urban cooperation: Sustainable and innovative cities and regions of which this contract focusing on EU-India relations will be a part is as follows: To contribute to improved international urban policy diplomacy and increased decentralised cooperation on sustainable urban development and climate change through a focus on sustainable energy. The program supports the external dimension of Europes growth strategy Europe 2020 and EU climate change policy. It is embedded in the EUs political dialogue with partner countries and will support the EU contribution to international frameworks such as the implementation of the UNs Agenda 2030, United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) COP21, Sustainable Energy for All (SE4ALL) summits as well as the HABITAT III implementation. The program includes an important element of EU economic growth through the promotion of business opportunities.
