Peace Education Program

Within the GIZ Regional Project for Peace and Security in the Great Lakes Region, the Peace Education Program focused on the development and implementation of a comprehensive formal and informal peace education program in the four pilot countries Burundi, DR Congo, Rwanda and Uganda. The Program made a crucial contribution to a gradual shift from a culture of violence to a culture of peace so that violent conflicts could be prevented and awareness on human rights in society could be spread. The project also aimed at fostering cooperation between the mentioned countries affected by conflict, and therefore fostered peaceful dialogue.
