People-to-People Programme to strengthen the Africa-EU partnership - Extension 2
The overall objective of this project was to strengthen people-to-people relations between the European Union and the African Union through public diplomacy and cultural initiatives. The client for this project was the European Union Delegation to the African Union, based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
In pursuit of this overarching aim, the project focused on several specific objectives. It sought to create and communicate initiatives that brought Africans and Europeans closer together, fostering mutual understanding and connection. A key focus lay in strengthening the capacity of the EU Delegation to effectively communicate its operations with the African Union Commission, while also enhancing its ability to convey AU-EU relations to a broader audience.
Furthermore, the project aimed to promote the Africa-EU Partnership by demonstrating the added value of both Unions working collaboratively and exchanging views on continental integration processes within a multilateral framework. It also explored the commonalities and diversities shared by the two Unions through various diplomatic channels, including cultural, public, digital, scientific, energy, climate, and economic diplomacy.
In addition to these thematic goals, the project was designed to improve the Delegations internal communication practices. It also aimed to enhance the Delegation’s ability to communicate jointly with EU Member States, the African Union Commission, and other relevant stakeholders. Lastly, the project placed particular emphasis on highlighting the European Union’s support for young people across both continents.
