PtX transport options and export logistics analysis in selected MENA countries

GFA elaborates on PtX transport options and export logistics for the MENA region, including PtX derivatives, for potential consumer and off-taker countries in the EU and Germany. This includes different scenarios and a comparative technical-economic analysis of the following modes: Transport of green hydrogen by pipeline in a short and a medium term, and its derivatives through maritime and land routes in a short and a medium term.

1. Data collection

• International experiences in the transport of green H2 and its derivatives 
• Comparative techno-economic studies on the transportation of H2 by pipeline and maritime channels 
• Safety standards and prevention of hydrogen transport risks
• National characteristics and data of the Tunisian gas grid; port infrastructures; utilities; storage and buffer storage facilities
• The Tunisian law governing the production, storage, and transportation of chemicals and flammables and the safety standards 
• Scenario Development: Examine short and medium-term scenarios for the transport of green hydrogen and its derivatives through pipelines, by maritime ways and land roads

2. Comparative analysis of scenarios

• Conduct a comparative analysis of the different scenarios, concluding on the technical and economic pre-feasibility
• Elaborate an indicative roadmap for hydrogen transport containing recommendations for in depth analysis and studies to be conducted and recommendations on the necessary capacity building aspects
