Tianzhu mountains biodiversity conservation project (Anhui IV)

The project is part of the Sino-German biodiversity and natural resources program which is co-financed by KfW and aims at improving the management and conservation of natural resources in accordance with the principles of international standards for sustainability. The specific objective of the Tianzhu mountains biodiversity conservation project is to preserve the biodiversity of Tianzhu mountain national forest park as well as to limit the risks of forest fires, pests, and damages to biodiversity due to increased tourism. Expected project outputs include the transformation of monoculture conifer forest into broad-leaved mixed forests, establishing botanical gardens as well as establishing an effective fire management and biodiversity monitoring system. Local capacities for biodiversity conservation shall also be increased.
