Capacity building of banks and municipalities for financing sustainable urban infrastructure project
The Capacity Building for Financing Sustainable Urban Infrastructure project is part of the Sustainable Intermediate Cities (CIS II) initiative. It aims to strengthen the capacity of national and local institutions to finance climate-friendly urban development. The project supports municipalities in developing bankable, sustainable, climate-friendly urban infrastructure projects, while also enhancing the capacity of the Development Bank (BDE) to provide the necessary financial instruments for such projects. This aligns with the New Urban Agenda, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Paris Agreement.
GFA supports municipalities in preparing sustainable, climate-friendly urban projects by providing training and advice on improving project bankability, as well as helping to develop feasibility studies. GFA also assists the BDE in developing financial instruments for climate-friendly investments and in integrating climate change considerations into financing products. Furthermore, GFA strengthens local advisory institutions to ensure the long-term development of municipal climate projects.
