Family planning and HIV/AIDS prevention, phase VI

Launched in 2003, the social marketing  HIV / AIDS prevention project has entered its sixth phase. The main donor, which continues to support this project, is the German Development Bank KfW.

In 2007, the project created the National Association of Social Marketing (ANIMAS-SUTURA), responsible for the implementation of the project, with technical support from GFA Consulting Group. The overall objective of the project is to improve sexual and reproductive health and rights by stabilizing the rate of infection and by contributing to family planning through promotion of birth spacing.

The specific objectives are:

  1. Strengthening of the availability of condoms and hormonal contraceptives;
  2. development of a sustainable network of communal initiatives and municipal distribution;
  3. raising awareness of the importance of HIV / AIDS prevention and birth spacing;
  4. a Social Marketing Association with functional capabilities to also intervene in areas of limited technical support.
