Monitoring Agent Services for COVAX rollout
Mozambique and other countries participated in the COVAX Facility, which pooled the purchasing power of participating countries and provided rapid access to doses of safe and effective vaccines once they received regulatory approval. Gavi coordinated the development and implementation of the COVAX Facility, as well as the COVAX Advance Market Commitment (AMC), a financing instrument supporting the COVAX Facility. The Monitoring Agent (MA) services assisted Gavi in providing independent assurance on the adequacy of the systems in place for the delivery of COVID-19 vaccines through the COVAX Facility in Mozambique. The consultant served as Gavis eyes and ears on what was happening on the ground. The consultant assisted the Ministry of Health in providing independent assurance on compliance with the National Deployment Vaccination Plan (NDVP) and in improving the delivery of the COVID-19 vaccine through better mitigation of programmatic, supply chain and fiduciary risks. The objective of the project was to identify and highlight issues and provide valuable input to improve the delivery of the COVID-19 vaccine in Mozambique.
