GEFF Mongolia Gender Assignment
The Green Climate Fund (GCF) has allocated USD 378 million to support EBRDs green investments under EBRDs Green Economy Transition (GET) approach, in particular to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, promote climate resilience, and mobilise private sector climate finance. GCFs contribution to EBRD will enable the EBRD-GCF GET co-financing programme (the "Programme"), which will provide Green Economy Financing Facilities (GEFFs and Facilities) in Armenia, Egypt, Georgia, Jordan, Moldova, Mongolia, Morocco, Serbia, Tajikistan, and Tunisia, with a total value of USD 1 billion.
The Green Climate Fund has made gender an integral part of its funding decisions, as outlined in its governing instrument, and is the first climate finance mechanism to integrate a gender perspective from the outset of its operations. Similarly, EBRD aims to reduce gender gaps and promote womens access to climate finance, thereby contributing to the creation of sustainable markets for a green economy, in line with its first-ever Strategy for the Promotion of Gender Equality (SPGE) (2016–2020). In this context, EBRD has developed a first Gender Action Plan, which outlines the gender-responsive activities to be implemented by GFA under the Programme.
