Contract value: 1,469,702 EUR

The GIZ GIAE-program is part of BMZ’s special initiative One World, no Hunger. It aims to raise income and employment and improve food security by promoting agricultural innovation networks, knowledge building and dissemination for agricultural value chains in 12 countries in Africa and in India. After having implemented the baseline study in 2016, GFA has been commissioned to carry out the midterm data collection of the program in 2018. This midterm data collection applied a slightly updated version of the socio-economic household survey used during the baseline to allow for comparison and impact assessment. Sample size varied from 500 to 600 small-scale agricultural and/or livestock producers per country. Besides household interviews and focus group discussions with farmers, women and youth, there was also a new aspect in the study as compared to the baseline: A separate enterprise survey was designed to interview about 50 up- and downstream enterprises on company data such as turnover, costs and personnel in each country.
