Modernized, climate-friendly solid waste and recycling management
The project focuses on the national level and on selected towns in Albania. It cooperates with the Ministry of Tourism and Environment (MoTE), in particular with the directorate for environment policies and waste management sector and with the National Environment Agency (NEA) and State Environment Inspectorate (SEI). Regionally, the project will focus on two regional offices from NEA and from SEI within the administrative territory where some of the partner municipalities are located. At local level the project is going to work very closely with six municipalities, namely Himara, Belsh, Peqin, Roskovec, Cerrik and Saranda.The overall objective of the project is to establish foundations for climate sensitive implementation of the national strategy for integrated solid waste management. Intervention areas of the project are advisory services to the MoTE, environmental compliance related to SWM, modernized SWM at local level, and operational standards of existing landfill sites.
