Power sector threshold programme support contractor (PSTSC) services
The PSTP aims to help alleviate the binding constraint of unreliable and inadequate power supply through improvements in power sector governance and operations, and is therefore divided into two projects: the Power Sector Governance Project (PSGP) and the Power Sector Operations Project (PSOP).
The objective of the PSGP is to develop more effective, accountable and transparent power sector governance in The Gambia. Efforts will focus on ways to:
- improve enforcement of the regulatory and legal framework;
- address regulatory and legal gaps to promote investment;
- improve oversight of the operations of the National Water and Electricity Company of The Gambia (NAWEC);
- and effectively engage stakeholders.
The objective of the PSOP is to improve NAWECs ability to operate The Gambias power system in a manner that reduces the frequency and duration of power outages and is consistent with The Gambias universal access and conditional emissions targets as outlined in its Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs).
Activities will focus on ways to improve capacity to manage system growth, to maintain and optimize system assets, to maintain and optimize system assets, to improve customer satisfaction, and to strengthen financial capacity.
