SWITCH-Asia policy

The EU funded "SWITCH Asia Policy Support Component Philippines" was one of five policy support projects under the SWITCH Asia program. SWITCH-Asia is one of the EUs program focusing on sustainable consumption and production (SCP) as an approach to sustainable development. With funding of more than 300 million Euros it is operating in 18 Asian developing countries (2007-2020). The overall objective of the project was to promote sustainable development in the Philippines by providing technical assistance. The specific objective (purpose) of the project was to support the Philippine Government in implementing SCP related laws and policy instruments.

The project worked across three result areas as summarized below:

Result 1: The implementation of policies and regulation related to clean energy and energy efficiency is facilitated.

Result 2: The Green Procurement and Ecolabelling programs are expanded to new government bodies and new products respectively.

Result 3: The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) capacity to address priority, cross-cutting SCP matters is enhanced, including on clean air legislation.
