Integrated sustainable urban transport systems for smart cities

The "Advisory Services on Integrated Sustainable Urban Transport Systems for Smart Cities in India" supported selected Indian cities at city, state and national level on the improvement of planning and implementation of integrated urban transport measures. In addition to local level interventions in Bhubaneswar, Coimbatore und Kochi, country-wide impacts were sought through exchange formats. The project combined ideas of Germanys Transformative Urban Mobility Initiative (TUMI) and Mobilise Your City and contributed to the realisation of the New Urban Agenda and the Paris Agreement. Providing transport-oriented and methodological advisory service, the project team promoted climate-friendly and sustainable mobility in Indias urban areas. The project was embedded into the Indian Smart Cities Mission program and was active in three areas:

  • Planning and implementing sustainable urban transport projects
  • Institutional performance and coordination
  • Learning and exchange formats
