Lebanon Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Finance Facility, LEEREFF
The Lebanon Energy Efficiency & Renewable Energy Finance Facility (LEEREFF) concerns a EUR 80M global loan provided by EIB (EUR 50M) and AFD (EUR 30M) to support small-scale investments in energy efficiency (EE) and renewable energies (RE) by private companies in Lebanon, with a particular focus on SMEs. The global loan is intermediated through the Banque du Liban (BDL), the project promoter, who makes the proceeds of this loan available to selected financial intermediaries (FI). The specific objectives of this technical assistance project are to improve the capacity of and provide support to
- the PIU to manage, coordinate and implement LEEREFF, raise awareness in the Lebanese society on financial, economic and environmental benefits resulting from the implementation of EE&RE projects, and effectively coordinate with other institutions active in the market;
- the Financial Intermediaries to select and prepare eligible Sub-Projects for funding, and handle management, reporting and disbursement of funds;
- the Final Beneficiaries to prepare and structure Sub-Projects in line with FIs, BDL’s, EIB’s and AFD’s requirements.
