Mali
GIZ, 2015 - 2019
Contract value: 2,464,759 EUR

The program adresses the core problem of the insufficient supply of the population with safe drinking water in Mali, as well as the insufficient availability of sanitation. These are central obstacles to sustainable development. To cope with this problem, GIZ has established a program that complies with the strategies of the Malian partner organizations (the National Water Supply Strategy, the National Sanitation Strategy etc.). The goal of the TC module is to strengthen the performance of the responsible actors in water and sanitation supply. This goal will be achieved through four intervention areas:

1. Sector management and sector policy advice,

2. Institutional adaptation of the technical authorities,

3. Strengthening the capacity of municipalities,

4. Sustainable operation of water utilities.

Under the trategic guidance and supervision by GIZ, GFA is responsible for the implementation of intervention area 4, "Sustainable operation of the water utilities". The goal of this field of intervention is to improve the sustainability of water supply operation.
