Tajikistan
KfW, 2014 - 2020
Contract value: 783,105 EUR

The project improved the diagnostics and treatment of newly occurring cases of Acute Flaccid Paralysis (AFP) or Polio. GFA assisted the Ministry of Health in improving timely and correct laboratory diagnosis, intensive care and the efficacy of Polio vaccines. To this end, delivering required supplies and improving the cold chain in the country were key elements. Another major component of this project was the design and construction of a clinical laboratory with an Enterovirus section. Twinning arrangements with German or international institutions were supposed to strengthen the capacities of the laboratory.
