Climate protection through avoided deforestation (CliPAD), phase II

Laos
KfW, 2017 - 2020
Contract value: 649,630 EUR

In line with the first phase, the objective of the second phase of the CliPAD FC Module was to demonstrate the technical and economic feasibility of pro-poor REDD in National Protected Areas (NPA) and adjoining areas, and involved authorities and communities receive performance based payments through a REDD like benefit sharing and distribution mechanism. This second phase focussed on supporting relevant authorities at national level and in the project target province as well as investments related to mitigation activities to demonstrate suitable ways to address identified drivers of deforestation and degradation (and therefore to reduce related emissions), as well as to create expected positive impacts on livelihood, poverty and biodiversity.
