Colombia
KfW, 2024 - 2028
Contract value: 1,049,520 EUR

Within the framework of financial cooperation between Germany and Colombia, KfW is providing up to EUR 7 million in co-financing for the Conservation and Sustainable Use of Natural Resources project, which forms part of the Herencia Colombia (HeCo) initiative and also receives funding from the FAO, the EU, the GCF and the GEF.

The project is being implemented by Parques Nacionales Naturales de Colombia (PNNC). The PNNC has been assigned by the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development (MinAmbiente) as the Executing Entity (EE). All activities and actions related to the project will now be coordinated by an Executing Unit (UE). In its role as Fund Administrator, the Natural Heritage Fund (Fondo Patrimonio Natural – FPN) will support the EE. The projects goals are to strengthen the management of protected areas and to enhance connectivity in priority corridors. This will contribute to the protection and sustainable use of natural resources.

PNNC will work in four national and seven regional protected areas, focusing on three prioritised mosaics: Cordillera Central, Transición Orinoquía and Piedemonte Andino-Amazónico. It consists of investments and measures in two components, with the following expected results or outputs: Consolidated conditions for the effective management of protected areas and improved connectivity in priority corridors.
