Water and Energy for Food Innovation Partner
Lot 2: Implementation of innovation calls and support to selected SMEs to scale their innovative solution - The WE4F initiative in West Africa will use and strengthen the existing GIZ Hub in Abidjan/Côte d’Ivoire for West Africa. The Hub is the core implementing body for all activities in the region and will work towards achieving the targets set under the following outputs:
- Business capacities of innovators (SMEs) that offer innovative solutions (technological, digital, financial, etc. new to a context) for up-scaling climate friendly, energy and/or water efficient innovations are improved through financial and technical assistance.
- End user and multipliers are informed on the potentials of climate friendly, energy and/or water efficient innovations.
- Access to appropriate financing options for climate friendly, energy and/or water efficient innovations is improved and new, suitable financing mechanisms for end user of innovations are in place.
- Orientations for designing improved political and sectorial frame conditions for the up-scaling of climate friendly, energy and/or water efficient innovations (an enabling environment) are provided.
Experiences of dissemination of climate friendly, energy and/or water efficient innovations are spread into regional, interregional and global exchange formats. The assignment refers to three work packages, namely: Preparing and managing innovations calls for SME innovators; strengthening business capacities of SME innovators; and supporting SME innovator’s for access to finance and scaling up innovative solutions.
