Bridging the digital gender divide

Cameroon
GIZ, 2025 - 2026
Contract value: 620,050 EUR

This project strengthens the economic and digital participation of women in Cameroon by improving access to gender-responsive digital solutions and Business Development Services (BDS). It particularly supports women entrepreneurs – including those operating in the informal sector and in rural areas – to effectively utilise digital technologies for their businesses. Many women face limited access to digital tools, business advisory services and financial services. At the same time, low levels of digital literacy and persistent socio-cultural barriers continue to restrict their economic opportunities. The project addresses these challenges through a comprehensive approach at three levels:

  1. Meso level: Strengthening the capacity of six selected service providers and community-based organisations to deliver gender-responsive digital and business services.
  2. Micro level: Providing tailored digital skills training and mentoring programmes to enhance women’s business capabilities, financial literacy and market access.
  3. Macro level: Engaging policymakers and key stakeholders to integrate gender-inclusive strategies into economic development initiatives.

Through this integrated approach, the project increases the adoption of digital tools among women-led micro-enterprises, establishes sustainable support mechanisms, and contributes to a more inclusive entrepreneurial ecosystem in Cameroon.
