Development and implementation of a maintenance mechanism

Togo
GIZ, 2024 - 2026
Contract value: 1,410,630 EUR

The technical cooperation module supports stakeholders across all levels of the healthcare system, including at the community level, to enhance the realisation of sexual and reproductive rights. This initiative focuses on three main areas:

  1. Strengthening gender-sensitive quality management in health centres.
  2. Empowering the target population.
  3. Promoting sustainable sexual and reproductive rights.

GFA contributes to the first area by developing and implementing a maintenance mechanism for infrastructure and equipment in the healthcare sector in the Centrale, Kara, and Savanes regions, ensuring better conditions for quality management in health centres.

Key services provided by GFA are to (1) develop a national maintenance strategy covering the entire health pyramid; to (2) define the operation of maintenance funds in the three project regions and corresponding fund mechanisms, financing strategies, and monitor contract-based activities in the Centrale, Kara, and Savanes regions; and (3) to implement the maintenance system through capacity building of service providers and maintenance managers in the three project regions. Through these efforts, GFA aims to ensure a sustainable, efficient maintenance system that strengthens healthcare quality and accessibility in the target regions.
