Innovative training in the milk value chain, phase 1

The global program "Green innovation centres for the agriculture and food sector" aims to improve the income of smallholder farmers as well as food security in the target regions through innovations in the agriculture and food sector. The program operates in 14 countries. IAAA in Tunisia is one of these 14 country packages. The project was a subcomponent of the IAAA program. It envisaged to increase dairy farm productivity and improved milk quality along the milk value chain.

Project approach and components:

  • Development of a practical "on farm" consulting approach for small dairy farms which are attached to rural economic organisations and milk collection centres with which the IAAA programme already cooperated in the framework of the local "milk fora".
  • Development of training materials (based on existing approved materials). Analysis of the possibility to include modern information and communication technologies.
  • Concrete implementation of the training approach for training of trainers and milk producers.
  • Target group: Trainers and consultants of public and private extension services as well as milk producers.
