PROINTCAME- sustainable and inclusive economic development

Colombia
GIZ, 2019 - 2020
Contract value: 959,627 EUR

The overall objective of the PROINTCAME project is to improve the income and employment of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and host communities in the department Caquetá which is located in the Colombian Amazon region. In concrete terms, the project is therefore not purely an economic development project, but makes a contribution in the context of flight and displacement as well as to peacekeeping in the sense of the post-conflict situation. Caquetá is one of the most affected regions by the armed-conflict with more than 120,000 IDPs only in its capital Florencia. To promote local economic development, the projects supports the Colombian Government in creating new employment opportunities and income in different sectors in cocoa cultivation, community tourism and non-timber forest products (NTFPs). Support is also provided for microenterprises in the cities. For instance, the projects offers Farmer Schools on different topics, particularly to female cacao farmers, to cultivate sustainable and high-quality cacao (see picture with participants of Farmer School and GFA / GIZ team).
