The Sustainable Forest Management Project in Guizhou was part of the planned South China Sustainable Forest Management Program. The Program objective was to integrate the principles of sustainable and close-to-nature forest management into the national forest policy and program setting. GFA promoted SFM on more than 35,000 ha of a forest area managed by local households. The main interventions advised by GFA were participatory forest management planning, training and application of forest operations and silviculture, forest infrastructure establishment, and organizational development.
