Improving maternal and newborn care

Cambodia
GIZ, 2016 - 2019
Contract value: 1,939,003 EUR

The Government of Cambodia developed Emergency Obstetric and Newborn Care (EmONC) Improvement Plans (2010-2015, 2016-2010) to further reduce maternal and newborn mortality. In addition, the Fast Track Initiative (FTI) Road Map for Reducing Maternal and Newborn Mortality (2016-2020) provided the conceptual framework for this project. GFA implemented the TC module "Improving maternal and newborn care" with the objective that "families with young children increasingly benefit from improved maternal and child health services". GFA supported the Ministry of Health (MoH) and its implementing structures at the provincial and district levels. Core partners at the decentralized level were the four Provincial Health Departments (PHD) in the target provinces of Kampot, Kampong Thom, Kep and Kampong Speu. Operational districts (ODs) and selected referral hospitals and health centers provided EmONC.
