Social marketing associations in Chad (PPSAC, Phase V)
CEMAC (Communauté Economique et Monétaire dAfrique Centrale), through its implementing agency OCEAC (Organisation de Coordination pour la lutte contre les Endémies en Afrique Centrale), implemented the "Project for the Prevention of HIV/AIDS in Central Africa" with funds from the Federal Republic of Germany through KfW. The 5th phase covers six countries: Cameroon, Chad, Central African Republic, Congo, Equatorial Guinea and Gabon. The Organization for Social Marketing in Chad (AMASOT) was the beneficiary of these funds to implement the 5th phase of the project in Chad.
The overall objective was to contribute to reducing the rate of HIV infection, unwanted pregnancies and transmission of sexually transmitted diseases, and to reduce the stigma and social marginalization of HIV-positive people through sustainable behavior change and condom use among targeted populations, including youth and groups at high risk of AIDS transmission. The objectives were:
- Increased condom use
- Social acceptance of people living with HIV (PLWHA)
- Increase access to condoms
- Improve target group knowledge and attitudes about HIV/AIDS and sexuality
- Increase public awareness of the rights of PLWHA
