Civic Engagement for Development (CED)
The Civic Engagement for Development (CED) project is funded by the Swiss government to support civil society in playing its full role as an independent development actor and partner of the authorities. While the project promotes greater participation and influence of citizens and NGOs in political decision-making, the way in which the project seeks to strengthen citizens influence on policy and decision-making is through NGOs, in their representation of citizens and in their mobilization (objective). A special focus will be placed on women and youth and the representation of their interests in decision-making.
The modalities of core funding for NGOs on the one hand and technical advice and capacity development on the other hand contribute to the results (outcomes) of the project:
- Effective and financially sustainable NGOs have developed stronger links with their constituencies, with a special focus on women and youth, and represent their interests in decision-making.
- NGOs have built coalitions and alliances to increase their influence on policy and decision-making, to hold government accountable and to advocate for democratic reforms.
