Civil society participation in governance reform and poverty reduction (CSPP)

Zambia
GIZ, 2018 - 2021
Contract value: 2,224,966 EUR

The project aims to encourage local CSOs (civil society organizations) to demand greater transparency and accountability in public institutions at local level. The initial focus will be on identifying pilot municipalities in Copperbelt Province, Southern Province and North-Western (Solwezi) Province and on identifying the civil society actors active in these areas. These actors will receive training in contributing more to local decision-making and to discussions in the municipalities. This will increase the local CSOs’ ability to call for greater transparency and accountability from state actors at local level, through the contributions they make to local development planning and the monitoring of the implementation process, and by demanding that municipalities account for their expenditure.
