Improving the effectiveness of university teaching

South Africa
EU, 2016 - 2017
Contract value: 59,252 EUR

The aim of the project was to explore how to develop structural and systemic measures to improve the quality of university teaching in order to improve students’ success. Measures agreed upon at national level were needed for recognising quality teaching, together with opportunities for professional development.

The research report and the dialogue workshop developed in the course of project implementation involved European and local stakeholders and served to identify initiatives at South African universities. They analysed selected approaches to the promotion of high quality university teaching in EU countries and explored possibilities for measures to improve the quality of university teaching at national level. This also included the accreditation and reflection of teaching expertise at different levels.
